No injuries were reported following a fire at a two-story single family home in Fox Lake Friday morning, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded to the report of a fire at 11 a.m. on the 0-100 block of South Maple Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Ed Lescher of the Fox Lake Fire Protection District.

The fire, which started on the first floor, was extinguished, and crews were able to leave the scene by 2 p.m. No one was home at the time of the fire, Lescher said.

Though a damage estimate wasn't available, Lescher said much of the house was left uninhabitable, and the Red Cross was called in for assistance, he said.

A cause of the fire isn't yet known, as authorities continue their investigation.
