Maple Park man gets 5 years for sexual abuse

A 45-year-old Maple Park man has been sentenced to five years in prison for having a sexual relationship with a girl he knew.

Antonio Arceo-Lomeli, of the 7N500 block of McGough Road, had sexual contact with the girl, who was younger than 13 at the time, between January 2011 and Feb. 4, 2012, according to prosecutors.

Judge James Hallock sentenced Arceo-Lomeli last week after he pleaded guilty in October to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery for punching a family member Feb. 4, 2012.

Prosecutors dropped other, more serious charges, such as predatory criminal sexual assault, which carried a minimum prison term of six years, in exchange for the guilty plea, records show.

Arceo-Lomeli can have his sentenced halved for good behavior and gets credit for 10 months spent in jail while his case was pending.

Assistant State’s Attorney Lori Schmidt, who is assigned the Child Advocacy Center, prosecuted the case.
