Huntley motorcyclist killed in crash

A Huntley motorcyclist who swerved to miss an animal lost control and died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Keith R. Preble, 52, was driving a 2004 Yamaha Silverado east on Del Webb Boulevard west of Summer Ridge Lane at about 2:04 p.m. Saturday when witnesses say an animal entered the roadway.

Preble was not wearing a helmet, police said, and suffered severe injuries in the crash. He was transported by the Huntley Fire Protection District to Sherman Hospital in Elgin and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Investigators detoured traffic on Del Webb Boulevard from Nottingham Drive to Wildrose Drive Saturday afternoon to conduct a traffic crash investigation.

Police believe Preble was traveling within the 35 mph speed limit.

“Preliminary findings are that it was in the range of the speed limit out there,” Huntley Deputy Chief Mike Klunk. “The case is pretty much closed. Toxicology is pending through the Kane County coroner’s office.”
