St. Alexander Parish welcomes new pastor

The Rev. Mark Cote will be installed as pastor of St. Alexander Parish in Villa Park by Bishop R. Daniel Conlon at a Mass at 5 p.m. Dec. 1. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

The bishop appointed Cote to be St. Alexander’s newest pastor in June 2012.

Ordained on June 4, 2004, Cote has spent the past eight years serving at St. Thomas the Apostle in Naperville, St. Isidore’s in Bloomingdale, and most recently at St. Michael in Wheaton. St. Alexander is his first pastorate.

Since coming to St. Alexander, he has been busy getting to know the parishioners. The new Thursday morning coffee following the 8:30 a.m. Mass has become popular. He is also expanding the outreach to the Hispanic community at the 6 p.m. Sunday Mass in Spanish and welcoming many Hispanic children and families to sacrament preparation.

Cote has also begun physical improvements to the church with the repainting of the building’s large front pillars.
