Student teams to build robots in Batavia

Designed for students, age 14-18, the Batavia FTC State Qualifier Regional on Saturday, Nov. 17, is a small team robotics program that requires kids to build a robot using a Lego hybrid design metal systems kit. It begins with the release of the annual game at the beginning of September. Teams of students will design, build, program, test, and trouble-shoot a robot to perform the tasks of the game.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rotolo Middle School, 1501 S. Raddant Road, Batavia. It is open to the public with free admission.

FTC or FIRST Tech Challenge, has more than 2,500 teams competing internationally. Batavia is hosting one of the four Illinois regional qualifying competitions with the opportunity for teams to move on to the state competition on Dec. 8.
