Aurora man killed in rollover crash

A 29-year-old Aurora man died early Tuesday morning in a fatal rollover crash near the Reagan Tollway.

Samuel Sanchez Jr. was the passenger of a 2006 Ford Mustang traveling west on Interstate 88 near Oak Brook. At about 5 a.m., the vehicle exited the tollway at York Road, veered off the road, struck a guardrail and rolled over into the ditch.

Sanchez Jr. was ejected from the vehicle. The driver, who has not been identified by state police, sustained nonlife threatening injuries.

“One occupant was thrown from the vehicle and killed. Another was found walking away from the vehicle,” said Illinois State Police District 15 Master Sgt. Steve LeGrand said. “It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol are involved.”

Both men were transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where Sanchez Jr. was pronounced dead at 5:29 a.m.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, charges had not been filed against the driver. The investigation continues, LeGrand said.
