Two arrested on charges of damaging police cars in Bartlett

Bartlett police caught up with two men they said used a BB gun to shoot and damage two police squad cars and a storefront last month in Bartlett.

Casey R. Lanis, 22, of the 1400 block of Polo Drive, and Matthew D. Weber, 21, of the 1300 block of Hunter Drive, were arrested Friday. Lanis was charged with three class A misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property. Weber was charged with one class 4 felony of criminal damage to state supported property and two class A misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property. Police said that on Oct. 8, Lanis and Weber used a BB gun to damage the passenger side of a Bartlett Police Department patrol vehicle parked at a 7-Eleven on Route 59. On that same day, they’re accused of shooting at a DuPage County Sheriff’s vehicle parked on Northgate Drive. Police said they also shot at the Radio Shack storefront window on the 800 block of Route 59.

Lanis was released Monday on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond. Weber was transported to the DuPage County Jail, where he remains on a $2,600 bond.
