Several injured in Gurnee separate car crashes

Two separate Gurnee car crashes resulted in several people being transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Gurnee Fire Battalion Chief Bob Heraver said two westbound lanes of I-94 were closed after a vehicle crashed at 4:55 p.m. just north of Route 132.

Two people, one of whom had to be extricated from the car, were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Shortly after at 5:20 p.m., a car overturned at the intersection of Route 132 and Lawson Boulevard near the entrance to Six Flags Great America.

Two people were taken to Condell with minor injuries in the second crash, as well, Heraver said.

Gurnee police weren’t available for comment.
