Community’s giving is overwhelming

Community’s giving is overwhelming

People’s Resource Center would like to acknowledge and thank all the people who generously donated their time and money to make the Saturday, Oct. 27 Stuff-A-Truck a success.

The event, sponsored by the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, was the culmination of a month long city food drive to benefit the PRC food pantry.

We’d like to thank the chamber, the Stuff-A-Truck volunteer committee, the local businesses, sport teams and schools who hosted food drives, and the Wheaton Park District for its help. A special thanks goes to Chairperson Laurie Swanson Oberhelman, who spearheaded the entire promotion with her enthusiasm and hard work.

We’d also like to thank Illinois Institute of Technology for hosting both Stuff-A-Truck and the afternoon “Thanks Tons” festival, everyone who purchased a booth at the festival and most importantly, the community, for donating 20,000 pounds of food and making enough monetary donations for us to buy 14,000 more pounds. The food will feed 3,000 hungry families who will come to our food pantry in November.

The generosity of the community is overwhelming. Again, thanks to all for a successful event and for supporting PRC.
