Dist. 15 considers changes to 2013-14 school calendar

District 15 is proposing changes to the 2013-14 school calendar first reviewed by the Board of Education in January 2012.

Under the new calendar proposal, classes would begin one week earlier than in previous years. The school year would begin with two institute days on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 15 and 16. Students would then begin with a full week of instruction starting on Monday, Aug. 19. The school year would end on Friday, May 30, should the district not use any snow days.

The new proposal for the 2013-14 school calendar differs from calendars for Township High School Districts 211 and 214. While winter and spring breaks would occur at the same time for all three districts, the first day for students of both high school districts is Wednesday, Aug. 21- two days after District 15 students would start.

Please visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013-2014Calendar to share with the district your feedback regarding the new 2013-14 calendar proposal. The survey will close on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and the board will vote on the calendar proposal during its next regular meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
