What’s extreme about Tea Party?

Who are the real extremists? Knowing the media portrays the Tea Party as being extreme, I decided to see for myself. I observed this first hand at a recent meeting.

It began with a prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance was next. (Kinda radical already.) Military veterans were asked to stand to be recognized and were applauded for their service. (Another radical idea.) All attendees were reminded to bring canned foods for a local food pantry in lieu of an admission fee. (Now it’s beginning to get a little extreme.)

A medical examiner, who helped identify the remains of the victims of the World Trade Center Bombing of 9-11, spoke. He displayed a huge banner (approximately 30 feet long) with the printed names of the 2,700+ victims. Also on it were many handwritten notes from family members of the victims and friends expressing gratitude for the fine work of the medical examiners. (Now this is extremist.)

Another speaker talked about his connection with Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, and his perspective on the impact of the Jewish vote in the presidential election. This is extremist?

Politicians and the media, who oppose this Tea Party stuff - one has to wonder - who are the real extremists? This Tea Party stuff seems kinda like what average Americans would believe, in the opinion of this average Joe.
