Lombard to continue discussion of Ken Loch Golf Course
LOMBARD, Illinois—The Village of Lombard Plan Commission will continue its discussion of proposed Comprehensive Plan amendments pertaining to the Ken Loch Golf Course (PC 12-18) located at 1S535 Finley Road. The next public hearing will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 19 in the Village Hall Board Room.
The Comprehensive Plan is the Village's official policy guide for future growth and development. It provides focus and direction regarding future physical and economic change in the community over the next 10 to 15 years. This past spring, the Village Board directed staff to review the Comprehensive Plan as it pertains to the unincorporated Ken Loch parcel and to create various development scenarios for possible future land uses. Staff prepared a land use, market feasibility, and fiscal impact analysis for the overall site to help guide the Plan Commission and ultimately the Village Board in making their decision. This report was discussed at the September 17 and October 15 Plan Commission meetings and has been continued to November 19 for further discussion.
The Ken Loch site is 30.91 acres in area and is improved as a golf course. The property does not currently impact Village services as it is unincorporated and it is not on Village utilities. Currently, the Village's Comprehensive Plan recommends that the property be used for open space purposes, and that it should only be annexed as part of a request and companion plan to enhance the open space/golf course amenity for the Village. However, as an unincorporated parcel, DuPage County has designated the site with R-4 single family residential zoning.
Although there are no proposed developments or annexation proposals at this time, the Plan Commission is being asked to make a recommendation to the Village Board regarding the desired future land use. Village staff has recommended that the property remain primarily as open space, with possible enhancements.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend the public hearing and will have an opportunity to provide comments and testimony. Written statements are encouraged and will be distributed to the Plan Commission if received at the Village Hall, 255 East Wilson Avenue, Lombard, IL, on or before Nov. 12, 2012.
The public hearing is also scheduled to be televised live via The Lombard Channel (Channel 6 on Comcast and Channel 99 on AT&T U-Verse.)
