Mt. Prospect Fire Dept. food drive a success

On Saturday, October 27 the Mount Prospect Fire Department and Mount Prospect Firefighters Local 4119 sponsored a food drive at Randhurst Village.

Fire Department personnel stationed in the parking lots in front of Costco and Jewel accepted donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries and diapers to help re-stock the Village's Emergency Food Pantry.

The Village is expecting a record number of requests for the Holiday Meal Basket Program this year.

Thanks to the generosity of the community the Fire Department filled a bus, two vans and then some with donations.

The department also collected over $1,200 in cash and gift card donations for the food pantry.

The Fire Department will continue to accept donations for the food pantry until November 17, 2012.

Residents can drop off donations Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the downtown fire station at Maple Street and Northwest Highway or to any of the three stations on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
