Duckworth shows she meets obligations

We have the opportunity on Nov. 6 to recognize greatness and honorable service of a fellow citizen. As a disabled Vietnam veteran, I remember what it takes to get on a plane and go to a faraway place when your country asks you to go in defense of our freedom and way of life. In the 8th Congressional District we have a chance to elect a distinguished veteran of a more recent conflict, Lt. Col. Tammy Duckworth, to defend our freedom and way of life in Congress.

Tammy Duckworth continues to demonstrate her sense of honor and citizenship; she has more than met her obligations to her country and received severe injuries as a result. By her drive and sense of honor Tammy has achieved a level of rehabilitation from her battle injuries that enabled her to deliver a prime-time address to the Democratic National Convention and a national television audience this year. That heroic feat alone would challenge the courage of many of the rest of us.

Most importantly, I strongly believe that Tammy Duckworth is deserving of your vote because she is the most capable and most honest congressional candidate running from the 8th District. Tammy will represent hardworking families in our district with the grit and determination she shows every day. Tammy will meet her obligations to our children in education, preserving middle class opportunities and medical care. Tammy will defend Social Security and Medicare with the same fierce determination she has shown in her military service to this country. Remind your friends and vote for Tammy Duckworth.
