Mikes Bike Shop to distribute recycled bikes

Mikes Bike Shop has kicked off its 12th annual Bikes for Needy Kids program with help from the Palatine Township Assistance Office.

Staff at the Palatine bike shop will clean, refurbish and distribute slightly used bicycles to needy families in the area. Bikes of all sizes are welcome, but there’s a special need for little boys’ and girls’ bikes. Past recipients include the Palatine Opportunity Center, Good Hope, Inner City Church, orphanages, boys and girls clubs and missionaries. Anyone wishing to donate can drop bikes off during regular business hours at Mikes Bike Shop, 155 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.

Bikes will be accepted through Thanksgiving Day. For more information, call (847) 358-0948.
