Wearing the flag shows disrespect
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the play of the Ryder Cup in Medinah. We are also pleased with the advantages this event brought to our local communities.
However, we were disappointed in seeing so many in the gallery wearing costumes made from our American flag. According to our official flag etiquette:
“The flag should never be used as wearing apparel ... No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.”
Perhaps this etiquette should be given more attention. This lack of respect for our flag is too widely expressed these days.
