• A 12-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle while she crossed the street Friday morning at Cary-Algonquin and Silver Lake roads, according to a news release. The girl was being treated at a hospital for her injuries and the 22-year-old driver is cooperating with police. Charges have not been filed in the case, which remains under investigation, police said. If anyone has any information about the crash, Cary police ask that you call (847) 639-2341.

• Donald C. Williams, 25, of the 7600 block of Bristol Lane, Hanover Park, appeared in bond court Thursday on a felony charge of attempting to cash a forged check, according to court documents. Williams is charged with presenting a fraudulent payroll check at 11 a.m. Wednesday to Ram Food Store, 725 W. Chicago St., in the amount of $678, police reports said. Bail was set at $10,000, of which Williams must pay 10 percent to be released before his next court date, scheduled for Nov. 1 in St. Charles.
