Schaumburg Petco hosts mega dog adoption event

The Elmhurst and Schaumburg Petco stores are hosting a mega adoption event to help provide homes to 200 dogs that were recently scheduled to be euthanized in rural Oklahoma and Arkansas. Thanks to the help and quick response of TAILS Humane Society, Animal Care League and the Petco Foundation, these dogs were able to escape from near death and were transferred to the Chicago area. They’re all spayed or neutered, healthy and awaiting loving homes.

Petco is hosting these Mega Adoption Events to help provide relief for several overcrowded Oklahoma shelters and, most importantly, to find homes for these 200 dogs and puppies. Oklahoma partner organizations include: Cherokee County Humane Society, Save Our Strays, Happy Paws, Muskogee Animal Shelter and Shana’s Last Chance Rescues.

Guests that attend can learn more about what these shelters do for the community, inquire about the best ways to care for a new pet and, most importantly, meet hundreds of adoptable dogs and puppies in need of forever homes.

The events are being held 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27-28 at Petco, 199 Route 83, Elmhurst, (630) 782-0648; and Petco, 60 E. Golf Road, Schaumburg, (847) 884-8370.
