Man in critical condition after head-on Bartlett crash

One person remains in critical condition at an Elgin hospital after a Thursday morning crash in Bartlett in which a car was hit head-on by a van.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. at Lake Street and Valley Lane. Bartlett police say a white Ford Econoline van was traveling east on Lake when the driver swerved into a westbound lane to avoid hitting several vehicles that were slowed or stopped. The van then hit a Buick LeSabre.

According to a news release from Bartlett police, the 52-year-old driver of the van and a 44-year-old passenger were treated at St. Alexius Medical Center for “nonlife-threatening” injuries.

The 51-year-old driver of the Buick was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital and was in critical but stable condition as of Thursday evening.
