Enough with lies about Obama’s background

There is no longer any excuse for false accusations about President Obama’s background and experience. People who are interested don’t even have to read the two books he has written or the biography of his mother, “A Singular Woman.” You can read articles about his mother, Ann Dunham, and his grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, on Wikipedia. These women were successful because they worked hard, valued education and loved and helped their children.

From “A Singular Woman,” I learned that as a child, Barack sometimes traveled with his mother in Java where she researched village industries such as weaving and blacksmithing. She carefully documented the survival of workers who had few financial resources. She used that experience to develop microfinance systems to help women entrepreneurs develop businesses and support their families. She was using peaceful means to support democracy. Her son has surely been aware of the success of her work.

Ann Dunham had been disappointed by her early experiences with the behavior of Christians in the United States. She sent her son to Catholic school for early elementary classes and introduced him to the Bible and to the literature of the other great religions. You will have to read his biography to learn how he made the decision to become a committed Christian.
