Press shows bias in Romney tax flap

Several weeks ago, Sen. Harry Reid, majority leader, stood in the well of the Senate chamber and claimed that a secret source whose name he was not free to reveal had told him with certainty that Gov. Mitt Romney had paid no taxes for the past 10 years. He challenged Governor Romney that if this charge was not true he should show us his taxes.

Reid also claimed a second secret informant had made the same claim. With two secret informants why should anyone doubt it? Making the charge from the Senate floor and on TV added to the heft and credibility of the accusation. Of course anything said on the floor of Congress is immune from perjury charges.

That Senator Reid is fourth in line to become president is a frightening thought.

When Governor Romney did release his 2011 tax returns, we saw that he had paid $1.4 million in taxes (14.1 percent). The lap dog press forgot to call Senator Reid and his secret informants to own up to these false accusations. Instead the press now levels the criticism that Governor Romney paid more than he should have to make himself look good.

Yet the press wants us to believe them that they are totally impartial and free of bias.
