Eagle Scout project in Des Plaines seeks funding

Daniel McGarry, a senior at Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights is seeking assistance with his Eagle Scout project for Boy Scout Troop 160.

McGarry is attempting to raise funds and donations in order to lay the base for a new playground for the students in kindergarten through 3rd grade at Saint Zachary School in Des Plaines.

He is seeking to raise $8,000 during the month of October so he can coordinate work efforts in November and December.

“The main objective of the project will be the removal of almost 1100 square feet of sod before the winter freeze,” said McGarry. ”We can then lay down a base of shredded rubber or other safe surface so that new games or equipment can be added in the future.”

McGarry is specifically seeking funding or donations of equipment or time to assist with his project. Once complete, McGarry anticipates other members of Troop 160 working on further installation and improvements to the playground.

“If anyone can donate funds or assist by donating other resources your assistance will mean a great deal to current and future students at Saint Zachary.”
