Lake in the Hills man guilty of sexual assault, abuse
A 56-year-old Lake in the Hills man faces a minimum of 21 years in prison after a McHenry County jury convicted him of predatory criminal sexual assault and sexual abuse of a child that took place in 2005.
A jury deliberated two hours before convicting Robert W. Lucht on three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, all felonies, McHenry County prosecutors said.
McHenry County Judge Joseph Condon will sentence Lucht on Nov. 20. The maximum sentence is 97 years in prison.
Lucht was arrested in March 2009, according to court records.
Prosecutors said Lake in the Hills Police began investigating after the victim, then 11, was admitted to a hospital for suicidal intentions. The girl told police she had been repeatedly sexually assaulted when she was between 7 and 9.
Police confronted Lucht with the allegations and he gave a written confession admitting what he did, prosecutors said.
A message left for defense attorney Michael Norris was not immediately returned.
