Police said the suspect, who was later identified as 28-year-old Brian Palmer, fled on foot but was taken into custody after a short chase.

Officers located other items that had been stolen in Palmer's possession and said he gave a voluntary statement admitting his involvement in the burglary.

Palmer told detectives that he is addicted to narcotics and stole the items to raise money to support his drug habit, according to police.

Palmers last known address was on the 26600 block of Catalpa Road near Antioch.

He is being held at the Lake County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
