Carmel just keeps improving

The records keep falling for the Carmel girls golf team.

Two weeks ago, the team set a school record for best team score with a 167. On Monday, the Corsairs bettered that mark significantly, finishing with a 159 in a narrow loss to Prairie Ridge (156) at Countryside Golf Course. It was Carmel’s final match of the regular season. The Corsairs take a 10-8 record into the postseason.

“I am overjoyed with how the team played tonight and could not have asked for a better way to end the season,” Carmel coach Jill Franz said. “Anyone can peak at this point in the season and I think today really showed how deep we are as a team and how solid we can play when we are all in synch.”

Senior Isabella Bagshaw carded her lowest career round and earned medalist honors by shooting an even par 36. Rachel Fraher, Taylor Smith and freshman Kayla Ryan all shot 41 for Carmel.

Grant d. Harvard: At Beaver Creek Golf Course, the Bulldogs just edged Harvard, 221-222. The Bulldogs were led by Kirsten Bank, who finished with a 49.
