Obama undeserving of second term

I am writing in response to a Sept. 20 letter from Michael Zerafa printed Sept. 20. I agree with Michael that economics will be the major issue in the presidential race. Bad economy, certainly. It’s been that way since the end of President Bush’s second term in office. But President Obama and the Democrats apparently need more time to fix the economy.

Having control of the House and Senate during the president’s first two years, Democrats attempted to fix the economy by putting over $800 billion into a stimulus plan that by all measures did not work too well. Democrats then abandoned the economy for an overhaul of health care, which we could debate the merits of another time.

President Obama promised to cut the deficit in half yet has only increased it. In his own words (on the David Letterman show) he stated he did not know the precise numbers concerning the nation’s debt when he took office. President Obama went on to say our debt is not a short-term problem. Really?

The president is pretty precise about the consecutive months of job growth and total number of jobs created. Are more people working today than when President Obama took office? How many of the jobs created are service sector jobs, including part time employment with no benefits vs manufacturing? Are we headed for a fiscal cliff due to our out-of-control spending and debt problem?

And President Obama is asking for another term. I’ll sit back and wait for the Democrats and his apology for just asking.
