Streamwood man charged in abduction held on $325K bail

A 20-year-old Streamwood man remains jailed on $325,000 bail on charges he abducted an acquaintance at gunpoint Friday.

Keewon Taylor, of the 0-100 block of Helen Court, is charged with armed robbery, aggravated vehicular hijacking and home invasion, according to Streamwood police.

Taylor turned himself in to authorities Friday night at the Cook County courthouse in Maywood and is now in custody at the county jail pending a scheduled court hearing Tuesday.

Earlier Friday, the charges allege, Taylor forced a 30-year-old man from his home on the 3000 block of Lynnwood Court and ordered him to drive. The victim tried to escape by purposefully crashing the vehicle into a sign, police said.

Authorities allege Taylor fled the scene with a shotgun, leading police to set up a perimeter and put numerous nearby schools and a library on lockdown. The weapon was recovered and the victim was not hurt, police said.

If convicted of the charges, Taylor would face a sentence between six and 30 years in prison.
