The Wauconda Fire District will host an open house for the community at Wauconda Fire District Station 1, 109 W. Liberty St., Wauconda, on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Firefighters will provide a variety of displays and live demonstrations. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the station, and see and touch the lifesaving equipment used every day. The event will also feature the fire safety house allowing children to practice their home safety escape techniques. Free hot dogs and refreshments will be provided. LifeSource will also host a blood drive. Representatives will be at the fire station accepting donations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.waucondafire.org for information.
