Palatine woman tied up by armed burglars, robbed

Two armed men tied up a Palatine woman inside her home Wednesday morning before burglarizing her home and taking off in her SUV, police said.

The resident of the home on the 400 block of W. Brookline Court arrived at her home at approximately 9:20 a.m. and was confronted by two men armed with handguns when she walked inside, police said.

The men tied up the 46-year-old woman and stole items from her purse and home before leaving in her 2009 black Cadillac Escalade, authorities said.

Both suspects were described as approximately 20-year-old black men. One suspect was about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 140 pounds while the other was about 5 feet, 10 inches weighing 160 pounds, police said.

The victim remained tied up for about 2 hours before she could free herself and call 911.

Police said the woman was not seriously harmed and refused medical attention.

Police were able to track the vehicle through an “On-Star” system, and investigators located the abandoned Escalade on West Monroe Street in Chicago.

Police said they are following up on leads and are asking anyone with information to call (847) 359-9000.
