Man sentenced to 11 years for Schaumburg drug delivery

A Cook County judge sentenced a Franklin Park man to 11 years in prison Monday in exchange for his guilty plea to charges of manufacture and delivery of cocaine.

Judge Kay Hanlon also ordered Sergio Garcia, 25, into the Illinois Department of Corrections drug treatment program as part of his sentence. Schaumburg police arrested Garcia last November as part of an undercover drug investigation. At the time of his arrest, he had in his possession about 115 grams of cocaine in two separate packages, police said.

Court records indicate Garcia received credit for the 260 days he has spent in custody and that during that time he has undergone drug treatment through the Gateway Foundation, which provides substance abuse counseling to incarcerated individuals.
