Facts belie claims in Obama’s speech

In the Daily Herald on Sept. 7, the day after Democratic National Convention ended, the front-page headline quoted President Obama’s speech: “The nation will recover.” But flip to front-page of the Business section and you saw “Navistar lays off 700.”

Joe Biden said about Mitt Romney: “He will ship jobs overseas ... we will keep them here.” Turn to Page 2 in Business and read, “Microsoft adding staff (1,000 R&D jobs) in China.”

Ask yourself who the president is today. Not Romney.

Good speech from Obama — slick on wording but no substance. Words from Obama and Biden are cheap and mean nothing. Your paper has reflected that very nicely, although unintentionally. Good job.
