Des Plaines senior center to host Oktoberfest

The District 62 Education Foundation and the Des Plaines Frisbie Senior Center are partnering to begin a new, annual tradition — a German-style Oktoberfest dubbed Des Plaines Brewfest. The event will run from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Hwy. Additional parking is available at the Lattof YMCA. Admission is $5. Visitors also can purchase tickets for three types of beer — Stevens Point Oktoberfest brew, Warsteiner Pilsner and Sprecher Black Bavarian — as well as root beer, brats, hot dogs and pretzels. Musical entertainment will be provided by Express Euro Band. A home brew starter kit will be given away as the door prize. Attendees must be 21 years or older. For more information, visit d62.org/d62foundation/index.html or call event chairwoman Sharon Lynch at (847) 471-1984.
