Des Plaines man hurt in Evanston gang shooting

A 20-year-old Des Plaines man was shot early Saturday morning in what Evanston police are calling a gang-related shooting.

The victim, who isn’t being named, sustained two nonlife-threatening gun shot wounds to the lower extremities while walking with three other individuals at about 12:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Lyons Street, according to a news release.

Police said he was shot by an unknown assailant who fled on foot. After authorities found the victim lying in front of a residence, paramedics transported him to NorthShore Evanston Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Evanston police continue to investigate, but say the victim isn’t being helpful.

“The victim is uncooperative and investigators suspect that the incident was gang-related,” the release stated.
