A reply to the ‘lefty letter’

To Mr. Petersen of Hoffman Estates who is seeking a reply to his “lefty letter.” Sorry to disappoint you but I do not consider myself a “righty” or a “teavengelist” but a person that cares deeply about the future of my country, the United States of America.

This mess that you spoke of goes back much further than the term of George W. Bush. You can add FDR, LBJ, Carter, Clinton and GW Bush for creating and expanding entitlements, though noble in many respects, that were half baked and unsustainable. During the first two years of President Obama’s term, there was a super majority in the House and a filibuster proof Senate. The Democratic oligarchy passed a huge spending bill that was such a disaster that the government was better off writing checks to citizens then the number of jobs it created. Then it went off to create a new health care entitlement.

As for deficits, Obama and his “lefty” cronies outspent Bush two to one. I think that after two years of reckless spending, Americans voted out many of these “establishment” politicians both right and left. Their replacements, for the time have at least tried to slow down the spending, only to be thwarted by a Democratic controlled Senate that refuses to pass any budget put forth by either party.

As for your desire for a Democratic controlled Congress, may I remind you that, since 1981, spending grew the least when Republicans controlled both Houses or the Senate and grew the most when Democrats controlled both Houses. So Mr. Petersen, I presume what you are seeking this fall is four more years of astronomical spending.

Enjoy your garden; you may not be able to afford it next year if you get your wish.
