Cops: Woman attacked by Addison man in clown mask

Police say an Addison man was wearing a clown mask when he attacked a woman getting out of her car Thursday in unincorporated DuPage County.

Luis D. Barajas, 19, of the 200 block of Michael Lane, faces charges of aggravated battery, unlawful restraint, obstructing justice and violation of an order of protection, police said Friday.

The victim was exiting her vehicle on the 3N400 block of Center Court near Addison about 12:55 p.m. Thursday when a man in a clown mask approached and tried to restrain her. A struggle ensued, and the offender fled, according to the sheriff’s office.

Barajas was arrested after investigators reviewed video footage of the attack, authorities said. He also is accused of harassing the victim by electronic means.

Barajas was being held in the county lockup Friday. If convicted of the most serious charge — aggravated battery — he could face up to five years in prison.
