Boomers blanked 11-0

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Schaumburg Boomers were shut out 11-0 by the Washington Wild Things in the opener of the final series of the regular season Friday night.

Washington loaded the bases in the first inning but came up empty as Matt Kuna battled through.

Washington scored in the third on a sacrifice fly from Gus Benusa and tacked on 5 runs in the fifth to chase Matt Kuna and take control.

Schaumburg had the potential tying run thrown out at the plate in the fourth inning before the 5-run outburst.

Washington added a run in the sixth, and back-to-back homers in the seventh ignited a 4-run inning to cap the scoring.

The Boomers (53-41) mustered only 3 hits, 2 from Brandon Gregorich. Casey Barnes worked 8 shutout innings to record the seventh shutout against the Boomers this year.
