$100,000 bond for Rolling Meadows man on drug charges

A Cook County judge on Friday ordered a Rolling Meadows man held on a $100,000 cash bond after police say he tried to sell them cocaine.

Inez Lopez-Mendoza, 44, of the 2200 block of Algonquin Road, must post the entire amount to be released from Cook County Jail.

Cook County Sheriff’s Police officers arrested Lopez-Mendoza at about noon Wednesday in a parking lot in the 1400 block of Golf Road in Rolling Meadows as part of an undercover narcotics investigation. Officers charged Lopez-Mendoza with delivery of a controlled substance, a class X felony punishable by six to 30 years in prison, after they say he agreed to sell them a kilogram of cocaine.

The defendant was arrested in 2005 on charges of possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.

He next appears in court on Sept. 27.
