Woodstock man arrested in Texas
A Woodstock man wanted in connection with an aggravated stalking case and on five other arrest warrants for violations of an order of protection was arrested in Texas this week, authorities said Friday.
Joseph L. Szpak, of the 300 block of Ridgeland Ave., had been a fugitive since Sept. 9, 2011, when he was believed to have fled to Florida from Woodstock, McHenry County sheriff’s department officials said.
The Algonquin Police Department contacted the sheriff’s department Tuesday with information from an anonymous source about Szpak, which led authorities to investigate his potential location in Corpus Christi, Texas. That’s where members of the U.S. Marshals Service took him into custody without incident about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
Szpak’s bond was set at $80,000.
