Batavia parks invites skateboarders to competition

Local skateboarders are invited to show off their skills at the Batavia Teen Center’s third annual Skateboard Competition on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Blackard Skate-n-Bike Park, 411 S. River St.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. on site, and the competition will begin at noon.

The registration fee is $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the event.

Forms are available at the Park District Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St., or the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St.

Entry categories will include beginner, intermediate and expert. Participants will perform a one-minute run in their respective category and be scored by a panel of judges. Prizes will go to first, second and third place in each category. Participants can also enter the best trick contest.

The event will include an open skate prior to the event, music and concessions by Pockets. The skateboard competition is presented by the Batavia Teen Center and the Batavia Park District.
