Puzzled about Wheaton College goal

Puzzled about Wheaton College goal

Some of the language in the Aug. 18 Daily Herald article, “Wheaton College suit changes health rules,” has me wondering about the college’s status. The lawsuit in question was filed asking the federal government to change its guidelines for “religious institutions.”

My question is not about the particulars of the lawsuit, nor is it about the right of individuals to hold convictions consistent with their religious beliefs. But naming Wheaton College a “religious institution” as President Phillip Ryken did in his statement in the Daily Herald article, is where I am puzzled. Is Wheaton College’s goal, its mission, to indoctrinate, or to educate?

Just asking.
