Three people injured in Batavia crash

Three people were injured Wednesday night in a four-vehicle crash on Kirk Road in Batavia that shut down the roadway for more than an hour.

All three victims were the only occupants in their vehicles, and the driver of the fourth vehicle involved in the crash about 100 yards south of the intersection with Pine Street refused treatment at the scene, officials said.

Batavia fire crews arrived at the scene about 6:15 p.m. and found one of the vehicles on its side, said Batallion Chief Robert White.

“It was a jumbled mess of damaged vehicles,” White said.

Firefighters had to cut two drivers from the wreckage, White said.

Two victims were taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, and the third was taken to Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora.

Fire officials said none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

Kirk Road was shut down in both directions until about 7:30 p.m.
