Elgin cops nab four in reverse prostitution sting

Elgin police arrested four local men as part of a reverse prostitution sting conducted Thursday evening near the Metra train lot and Pace bus terminal on the city’s near west side.

Arrested were: Roberto Gasca-Perez, 50, of the 300 block of Standish Street in Elgin; Gustavo Granados-Castillo, 39, of the 500 block of Thorndale Avenue in Elgin; Terry Nolan, 30, of the 100 block of Meadowdale Road in Carpentersville; and Harry Villegas, 45, of the 800 block of Bode Road in Elgin.

As part of the operation, undercover police officers posed as prostitutes, police said.

Each man was charged under Elgin’s local ordinance for soliciting a prostitute, which carries a $1,000 fine.

During the sting, three vehicles also were towed.

Acting on complaints that Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda received earlier this month during his neighborhood walk and talk, police launched the three-hour sting Thursday night, according to a news release.

All four men are due to appear in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Elgin branch courthouse.
