Rash of burglaries of unlocked Des Plaines garages continues

The rash of burglaries of unlocked garages in Des Plaines is continuing. After reporting five such burglaries about 10 days ago, six more were reported over last weekend.

Burglars stole $7,000 in power and hand tools out of an unlocked garage at a home on the 900 block of South West Grant Drive between 11 a.m. Aug. 8 and 10 a.m. Aug. 9.

Between Aug. 10 and 12, burglars stole a generator valued at $2,000 out of one garage, and saws, nail gun, sander and grinder, valued at $2,500 out of a second garage, both on the 400 block of Rose Avenue.

They also took two saws, drill and flashlight, valued at $325, on the 500 block of Prairie Avenue; saws, drills, sander and trim router, valued at $1,150, out of one garage, and saws, drills, battery charger, sander and cordless vacuum, valued at $955, out of a second garage on the 900 block of Woodlawn Avenue; and a pressure washer, chain saw and leaf blower on the 400 block of Crestwood Drive, valued at $400.
