Herald should adhere to mission statement
This letter is in regards to your article “Gays, marriage and the debate over full citizenship” posted July 2. Unfortunately, your editorial department does not practice what your paper’s mission statement says. It reads “Our aim: To fear God, tell the truth and make money.”
Since God is the author of marriage, would it not make sense to read what his word says about marriage, or in this case gay marriage? There are many contexts regarding this issue in God’s word, especially from Romans 1:18-32, you will see God’s wrath regarding this issue. Here is a sample from the English Standard Version, verses 26 and 27: “For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”
I pray that your paper lives by its mission statement on its editorial page. If not, then you should consider removing that statement and just leave in the last part of the statement “ ... and make money.”
