Seven injured in Hampshire crash

Seven people were taken to area hospitals after a crash in rural Hampshire Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The Hampshire Fire Department responded to the scene at Allen and Walker roads at 4 p.m. Thursday along with the Kane County sheriff’s office.

Officials said firefighters were forced to extricate three people from one of the two vehicles involved in the crash.

A Chevy TrailBlazer was headed north on Walker Road and failed to stop at the stop sign before striking a Dodge truck that was traveling west on Allen Road, according to Kane County sheriff’s Lt. Patrick Gengler.

Mutual aid ambulances from Burlington, Pingree Grove and Genoa assisted at the scene in transporting the seven patients.

Hampshire fire officials said the injuries appeared to be nonlife-threatening.

Police said all injuries were minor, and a full crash report would be available Friday morning.
