A new 4,200-square-foot Bucky's Express convenience store and conveyor-style car wash will be built alongside a soon-to-be-reopened Mobil station on the southwest corner of Army Trail and County Farm roads.

The existing building, which includes a convenience store and service station, was built in the late 1970s, but will be demolished to make room for the new structure.

Cars exiting the new car wash will drive into a north-south cross access drive -- not an optimal configuration, but workable because it's important to maintain cross access to the property to the south, according to Don Bastian, the village's assistant community development director.

The gas station itself has been closed since April 2011. Once reopened, the facility is expected to operate around the clock.

On the south end of the village, renovations will be made to an existing Shell station property on the southeast corner of North and Gary avenues.

The building will be remodeled to include an expanded convenience store and Dunkin' Donuts, which will offer drive-up window service on the east and south sides of the building.

The property also will be upgraded with a new parking lot layout, sidewalks and landscaping.

Four interior automobile service bays will be eliminated.

The Shell station has been in operation since 1971.
