Four-day summer festival Lindenfest returns
Lindenhurst’s annual four-day summer festival is back.
Lindenfest 2012, again taking place at the village hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road, will kick off Thursday, Aug. 9, at 5:45 p.m. with an opening ceremony, followed by the Miss Lindenhurst pageant at 6 p.m.
Adult bingo, carnival games and rides will continue until 10 p.m. Wristbands for unlimited rides cost $20.
On Friday, Aug. 10, the fest runs from 6 p.m. to midnight. Bingo and carnival rides will continue and Tafoya’s Lost Boyzz, a blues and rock band, will perform at 7 p.m., followed by Bella Cain, a country band, at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 11, brings the annual parade, which will be led by this year’s grand marshal Lindenhurst resident and World War II and Korean War veteran Bill Isaacson.
It steps off at 10:30 a.m. from Rolling Ridge and Beck roads, heads south on Beck Road, turns right on Sand Lake Road and ends at Valley Drive.
The carnival will start up at noon Saturday. Unlimited rides wristbands will be sold from 1 to 5 p.m. Youth bingo games will run from noon to 1 p.m., while adult bingo is 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to midnight. Teen bingo is from 4 to 5 p.m.
There will be two dance performances — the first at noon from the American Stars of Dance, Inc. and the second at 1 p.m. from the Waterford Dance Academy.
Other activities include face painting at 1 p.m., a hula-hoop contest at 2 p.m. and an auction at 3 p.m.
Live music will be provided in the evening by Rafael Mendez & The Fabulous House Rockers, a southern rock band, at 5 p.m.; the Neverly Brothers, a ’50s-’60s oldies band, at 7 p.m.; and Dot Dot Dot, a rock band, at 9:30 p.m.
The festival closes at midnight Saturday.
On Lindenfest’s final day, Sunday, Agu. 12, the festival will run from noon to 6 p.m. Wristbands will be sold from 1 to 5 p.m. Youth bingo is set for noon to 1 p.m., followed by face painting at 1 p.m. and adult bingo from 1 to 6 p.m.
Battle of the Bands runs from noon to 6 p.m. The bands that will showcase their talents include Tadashi, LC Sozo, Silent Redemption, the Ocelots, Slamfunk, Electric Revolver, Black Glass, Villa Avenue Band and According to Kate.
