Sidewalk installation along west side of Westmore-Meyers Road in Lombard

LOMBARD, Illinois— The Village of Lombard recently received a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through DuPage County to share in the cost of constructing a sidewalk along the west side of Westmore-Meyers Road.

Construction of the sidewalk is occurring from Norton Street to Roosevelt Road. This will complete the pedestrian access along Westmore-Meyers Road.

The contract was let for $157,666 to Copenhaver Construction located in Gilberts, Ill., with 50% of the funds coming from the CDBG and 50% coming from the Village's Capital Improvement Fund.

“DuPage County and the Village of Lombard have a longstanding intergovernmental relationship,” said DuPage County Board member Michael Ledonne. “Because of the grant, another stretch of sidewalk in Lombard is completed for pedestrian access, bringing additional safety and improvement to the neighborhoods, benefitting all residents,” Ledonne added.

The work should be completed by the end of August.
