Roth, Boomers roll 11-0
LOVES PARK, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers used a pair of 2-run homers and a solid outing from Cameron Roth to shut out the Rockford RiverHawks 11-0 on Monday night.
Roth (8-4) extended his scoreless-innigs streak to 17 by working 8 innings. Roth, who threw 8 innings in a 1-0 victory over Joliet last Wednesday, retired 10 in a row from the third through the sixth.
The lefty allowed just 4 hits and struck out four. It was the Boomers’ eighth shutout win of the season.
Schaumburg scored in five different innings, taking advantage of 3 errors in the first for an unearned run. The run marked the first time in the series that Schaumburg scored first.
Jereme Milons blasted a 2-run homer in the second to extend the lead. Milons drove home 3 runs in the game, as did Frank Pfister, who added an RBI single in the second and had a 2-run double in the sixth.
Steve McQuail connected on his 11th homer of the year in the sixth, also a 2-run shot. Eight different batters had hits for the Boomers, who finished with 13.
