Fox Lake hosts fifth annual Venetian Night Saturday
The fifth annual Fox Lake Venetian Night and fireworks show will take place Saturday, Aug. 4, on Grand Avenue, west of Route 12.
The annual block party kicks off at 6 p.m. in front of Dockers Restaurant, 33 West Grand Ave. The party will feature food, entertainment and beverages for all ages.
The boat parade that runs on Pistakee Lake past Grand Avenue will begin at 7:30 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “Mardi Gras on the Chain,” and many boats will be decked out in Mardi Gras style lights and decorations.
First place for the boat parade will take home $500, while second place will score $300 and third place will bring in $200, officials said. Winners will be judged on creativity with the theme, costumes, decorations and lighting, officials said.
The fireworks are expected to launch about 9:30 p.m., officials said, when it becomes dark enough. The show will take place right over the water at the end of Grand Avenue.
The event also will include a disc jockey spinning records, and an area for dancing.
